What is storytelling?

What is storytelling?

What is storytelling?

Line + Subtext + Meaning + Reason + Movement = Storytelling.

It all begins with a line, and with that line comes subtext, usually aligned with a story behind the story being told.

From our line and subtext, we can now begin to form a certain meaning, that helps to give our line purpose.

Remember, it’s the meaning we articulate from the line, that helps to give us an earnest chance to motivate our line, by forming our reason.

Once our reason is formed, we have all the organic ingredients to propel our line forward, using movement, because every line we deliver, is rarely said without atleast some form of movement and meaning.

Suddenly, we have the positive foundations of and for storytelling, as every line we read, workshop, rehearse or learn within a scene can also become a mini story within itself.

Every line is just begging to be brought to life.
